#Stressing #Hashtags

Now, this seems contradictory, doesn’t it? Last week, we #destressed #hashtags, now we are going to #stress them? Am I just toying with your #socialmedia #emotions?

I actually took a cue from Garrett who had an excellent #soapboxmoment on websites not being optimized for #mobilesearch. So, #samesoapbox #differentsubject.

Your #TargetAudience Gets Them Even If You Don’t

This can be a #hardpill to swallow but it’s necessary.

Just because you #dontgetit doesn’t always mean your customers won’t follow.

This is a rut a lot of people can get into and not just about hashtags. It usually goes something like this

An #expert: you should [insert #grandidea here] because it will [insert #greatresult here].

#Client: I wouldn’t do that. I’m not going to implement that. Nobody will do that.

When working with Webbin’ It this client is not going to get any pushback because the expertise has been offered and rejected. Because Webbin’ It wants what the client wants the project moves forward. However, our expertise still stands.

Truth: while you might be resistant to #hashtags, you’ve been reading them #justlikeyourcustomersdo for this entire post. They’re already doing it; why not #joinin?

Does everyone get them? #ofcoursenot Do most people interacting on #socialmedia understand why you would use a #hashtag? #verymuchso

#Using the #Hashtag Shows #Relevancy

Ever seen someone trying really hard to be relevant by and being left behind because they can’t keep up?

#Itcanhappen on #socialmedia. Your customers on various social media platforms want to see you doing what they do.

#Frankly, using the #hashtag is more about the #reader or the #follower than it is about #you. If you think about it, there are already things you adjust in posts so that the reader understands. #Using the #hashtag can be a part of the same process and your followers will #thankyou for it.

In short, don’t #dismiss the #hashtag. Be #relevant.
