We Are Webbin’ It: Meet Garrett or There’s a Doctor Under the Beard

Simon here again with you. This is the next installment in our We Are Webbin’ It series. I thought it was time you learned more about Garrett Goggans.

Webbin’ It is the brainchild of Garrett.

You could say it was the start to a romantic movie.

Garrett and Ryan Flynt were volunteers in the scouting program and having a chat about what their technical backgrounds were. Through that conversation, they discovered that they had the skill sets that complimented each other. Where Garrett fell short, Ryan could pick up and vice versa. Garrett later approached Ryan and asked if he’d be interested in putting their knowledge together and helping people build a better presence on the web.

The next thing Ryan knows is that he is sitting at Garrett’s dining room table with some Chinese food.

The Chinese food was takeout from Garrett and Noel’s favorite Chinese place. Noel? Who is Noel, you ask? Noel and Garrett have been married for five years and Ryan will tell you that Noel is Garrett’s better half. Garrett also has two kids, Braeden and Parker, and the four of them make up a pretty swell family.

Where Ryan is self-taught, Garrett is book taught and on his way to a doctorate through Colorado Technical University in Computer Science.

But, anyway, back to the dining room table. As they talked more about this startup company, they discovered that their customer service philosophy was even similar.

As they began to discuss how the company would serve customers and the ways they would help their customers build their web presence, I guess you could say that’s how I came to be…so if you ever wondered if through some sort of sci-fi mishap what the children on Webbin’ It’s co-owners would look like, I would be it.

But before we talk about Garrett and how he works into Webbin’ It there are a couple of things you should know about the man and his fam. First, they love scouting. Both his boys are scouts. Garrett was even a Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 386 here in Colorado Springs. Noel is Committee Chair. They both volunteer regularly Pikes Peak Council.

Second, they love games! You will often hear the Flynt clan and the Goggans clan talk about what games they’re bringing to the shindig at whoever’s house.

I asked Garrett where he would go if he could go anywhere in the world right now where that place would be, and he said Ireland. That happens to also be the answer Ryan would give. See! The bromance continues.

Garrett believes that web design should be clean and concise, giving the end user an experience at your website that, while informational, it should also be aesthetically pleasing to the eye. However, when it comes to what the customer wants out of their website Garrett believes the customer’s wants is paramount. That means, what the customer says, goes. Garrett will offer his expertise but never tries to let his designer’s license trump the customer’s vision for their website.

Garrett believes that social media requires your attention whether you’re a non-profit or a business. People look to social media as a search engine like Google more and more now. It’s just a good place to be found and heard. And if you do well by the people that find you…word of mouth travels fast.

Garrett also leans on Ryan for search engine optimization (SEO) but can tell you exactly why it’s relevant to you. SEO is a process that, when given the proper amount of time and planning can pay off in those precious top spots on page one of Google.

He also holds fast to the idea that when all of these things work together, you can be everywhere and that’s why you’re not everywhere unless you’re webbin’ it!
